THE ENTREPRENEURS
Here at SDA Creative, we work with a lot of entrepreneurs. There is so much energy and passion in people who are creative and producing products they have imagined—especially in the organic products industry. We partner with individuals from the start: designing logos, print materials, and on to developing websites and trade show booths.
It was fun to be in a huge convention center with a whole lot of entrepreneurs! Booth after booth of delicious food, with that very important twist: organic, sustainable, chemical-free, good for you and the earth, and more. And food items weren’t the only products on display. Organic materials for packaging, household items, clothing. Sustainable products that don’t deplete the earth’s natural resources or add to landfills.
Being rooted in the surf industry (which, incidentally, was into organic products decades ago) SDA Creative isn’t new to this space. But admittedly, hanging around these folks for three days made us stop and think about what’s going in our bodies and where we spend our dollars.

We thought it would be fun to share some “favorites” from the show with you.
COMPOSTABLE, ORGANIC, COFFEE AND SINGLE-SERVE PODS
OAKLAND COFFEE
Oakland Coffee is organic, fairly traded, and, equally notable, the packaging is compostable. Love your K-Cups for coffee, but find it’s such a hassle to recycle the cups? Not to worry, Oakland Coffee’s single-serve pods can just be tossed in the trash: they are compostable. We like that. The logo is cool and the coffee is delicious. We already ordered some more.
NATURAL PET FOOD WITH A TWIST
For the canines in your life, Tender and True Pet food is organic and from animals that are fairly treated in the production process. This scoop is #amazing. The gentleman at their booth told me my dogs would love this and it’s true—they did—all gone now.
SUSTAINABLE PAPER PRODUCTS FOR YOUR HOME AND BUSINESS
Nimbus Eco paper products are close to our hearts. One of the founders is from the SDA Creative family. Sustainable toilet paper made from bamboo, and in some products a combo of bamboo and post-consumer recycled paper. No trees are cut down to manufacture this product. You can’t always do everything earth-friendly, but trust us, this one is easy. The product is great and readily available.
WATER PACKAGED IN PAPER-BASED BOTTLES
JUST WATER
More than just another bottled water, JUST WATER, is mountain spring water packaged in paper-based bottles with a cap made from sugar cane. Concerned about the negative health effects of drinking water in plastic bottles? We are too. Ease your mind with this yummy water.
SUSTAINABLE TABLEWARE MADE FROM PLANTS
How about disposable plasticware that is compostable? Think about this for a second—what a great idea! With Spring and picnic weather just around the corner, we’re already thinking about all the places this would work.

Meli’s Gluten-Free Monster Cookies
Meli’s Gluten-Free Monster Cookies was started by two women, childhood friends who are both named Melissa! Using a family recipe, they collaborated on this product and launched and build this wonderful business. We talked with one of the Melissas at the Expo and she was as delightful as the cookies, which are really delicious.

We’re in our 23rd year here on the beach in Capistrano Beach, where the coffee is good, the view is great, and our designers are the best!
