Hello, my name is Briona! I am going into my Senior year as a BFA Graphic Design major with a minor in Leadership Studies at Chapman University. I could not be more excited and driven for what this next year has in store! Here is a little bit about the summer intern experience.

Q: How did you end up doing a summer internship at SDA and why did you want to do this internship?

A: For the past two years, I organized the Annual AIGA Portfolio Review at Chapman University. As the main contact for volunteer creative professionals, I planned and oversaw the event. In the process I met SDA President, Mark Samuels, who has volunteered at multiple previous reviews. I learned SDA was interested in taking on a summer intern and jumped on the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in a professional setting.

Q: What types of projects/things did you work on while at SDA?

A: When I first started, I worked for an awesome upcoming vintage apparel company called TUFCO creating shirt designs. I scheduled social media/blog posts and updated business cards, as well as produced product mockups and heavily improved my Photoshop skills. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend product photoshoots, set up client social media platforms, and help develop logos!

Q: What are your career dreams & goals?

A: Ultimately, I hope to be an amazing and talented creative who “wows” people with my work. A goal of mine is to have a creative directing position. I have a strong passion for leading and collaborating with others. I want to work for a company that helps clients tell their story in a relatable, yet innovative way and has fun in the process. Wherever I may be, I hope to always continue to learn and grow in my talents and as a person.

Q: Now that summer is coming to a close, what is next for you?

A: As I mentioned, I am very excited for this school year to start. I want to focus on learning and absorbing as much information in classes before its time to begin “adulting.” Most of all, I want to enjoy the time I have left with my Graphic Design peers!

I am very grateful for my time as an intern at SDA Creative and would highly recommend the experience!
